About OKLAHOMA ASSOCIATION FOR INFANT & EARLY CHILDHOOD MENTAL HEALTH
The Oklahoma Association for Infant & Early Childhood Mental Health (OK-AIMH) was founded in November 1991 and is an affiliate of the World Association for Infant Mental Health (WAIMH) and a member of the Alliance for the Advancement of Infant Mental Health (Alliance or AAIMH).
Our Mission
The Association promotes awareness, understanding and excellence in infant and early childhood mental health (IECMH) through education, workforce development, multi-disciplinary collaboration and advocacy for best practices, and serves as a resource to individuals and organizations working to support the healthy social-emotional development of infants, toddlers and their families.
Our Vision
Oklahoma's infants and young children are safe, loved, and nurtured by the adults in their world. Their emotional well-being is recognized, valued, and supported in their communities and they are seen as active participants in relationships with their caregivers. Children and their families have access to a full continuum of infant mental health services and supports provided by highly-trained, endorsed professionals committed to life-long learning.
Our Goals
The Association serves the interests of its members and the public through:
Professional development, credentialing & Endorsement®;
Networking, relationship-building & bridging services and needs across systems, including the private sector;
Advocating as a major voice for children, parents, caregivers and workforce to inform policy and decision-making in Oklahoma; and
Connecting Oklahoma to the national and international IECMH professional community.
NOTE: For the purposes of the Association, infancy is defined as from the prenatal period to age three years and early childhood is defined as three to six years old.
In loving memory of
